Apple has accelerated its shift of iPhone manufacturing to India to reduce dependence on China. A new Tata Electronics facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, has commenced production of older iPhone models. Additionally, Foxconn is set to begin operations at its $2.6 billion plant in Bengaluru, Karnataka, aiming to produce iPhone 16 and 16e models. This move is expected to create 50,000 jobs. India currently accounts for about 18% of global iPhone production, with plans to increase this share as Apple aims to shift most U.S.-bound iPhone production to India by 2026.
